No two visits to Riverford will be the same. As the crops change with the seasons, so do the tours.
Watch spring crops being planted in early May, visit the strawberry fields in June, enjoy our salads in July, the abundance of crops in August, sweetcorn in September, and the great pumpkin harvest in October - to name but a few annual highlights.
The Watson family has been farming at Riverford for over fifty years, and organically for the last eighteen. We are part of the Soil Association’s Network Farms and want to keep our customers and others in touch with how we produce the vegetables we supply in our boxes.

guided tours
Guided tours are informal, informative and hands-on, with lots of touching, smelling and tasting. You usually end up with lots of seasonal samples to take home. A typical tour lasts between one and two hours, taking in vegetable fields and clover leys, and usually includes a tractor and trailer ride to our polytunnels and outlying corners of the farm, giving wonderful views over the Devon landscape.
self-guided walks
|
Self-guided farm walks are an alternative for returning visitors or those preferring to amble at their own pace. We have designed a walk lasting around an hour and a quarter -it will be a bit rough and ready, but will give you a good overview of the farm and of what we do. To accompany the walk, we have an audio-guide regularly updated by Guy Watson with seasonal growing news.

a word of warning
Riverford is a working farm, so sensible clothing (especially shoes & a waterproof coat) is recommended. Parts of the tour are on foot over uneven and sometimes muddy ground, so buggies are not advised (they may be very hard work).
